Like most other after dinner speakers Mitchell supports his favourite charities to the full. His favourite two, where he chairs and organises both, is the Local Builders Dinner driven by Ailsa Builders and supported by many local construction companies and the local, volunteer run hospital radio, Radio Heartbeat. The local builders dinner is a major fundraiser for the MacMillan Cancer Relief Nurses, Airdrie Hospice and Ward 15 outpatients at Monkland's General Hospital.
Over the past 3 years the dinner has raised a fantastic £40,000 which has been put to good use by these most worthwhile charities. It is one of the most prestigious dinners in the area and receives tremendous support of many people and none more so than Drumpellier Golf Club which not only provides an excellent venue but also contributes greatly to thesuccess of the
entire event.
We are also very fortunate to have the services of " the reclusive artist " and on 3 occasions her paintings have been the final auction items and raised a magnificent £4000
Two of her paintings are shown here, on the left its "The Parkhead Three" and on the right a fantastic painting of Jimmy " Jinky" Johnstone which raised £2000 towards Cancer relief.
Mitchell shown here in auctioneer mode which is a very important part of any evening but especially so at
this dinner where, undoubtedly due to the great cause, people are doubly generous.
